Tarot for Business? Don't Knock It 'Til You Try It
A few months back I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, Being Boss, and I stumbled upon an episode with the founder of Biddy Tarot, Brigit Esselmont. The episode was about using tarot to help bring professional insights to whatever questions you have surrounding your business or professional life. The idea isn't to tell you winning lottery numbers or tell you the name of the great love of your life, but really to inspire a different way of looking at a situation.
So of course, me being me I immediately wanted more info. I have always been very intrigued by Tarot, and have had several readings before, but never for strictly business purposes.
Disclaimer: If you are already feeling skeptical, I encourage you to keep reading and keep an open mind. I'm not saying I have the key to entrepreneurial success after my reading, but I am saying I see things through a different lens and with a new sense of clarity.
I went to book a reading with the Master herself, Brigit. Alas, there was a waiting list a mile long. I am certainly an instant gratification kinda gal, so I wasn't prepared to wait. Pause for reaction.
I stumbled upon the profile of another very trusted professional, Domenica. Her tagline reads "She doesn't beat around the bush."

Domenica wrote me immediately after I inquired about her services via email. She asked me a few questions about what sort of questions I wanted to know that were related to my business or career. Once I answered those questions, she would pull my cards and email me a detailed report of my reading so I would have something to reference.
I won't get into the details of my reading here, but let's just say that while it didn't tell me anything new — it confirmed things that I thought were holding me back from certain successes in my business. It gave me a whole different perspective that I found very valuable.
For example, at the time of my reading, I was really confused about how to hone in on my exact area of expertise, as I kept coming up with more ideas and ways I could take my business. Q: Can you tell our readers a bit about your background?
A: For as long as I can remember, I have been driven by my search for a purpose beyond that of my job and career. My earliest memory as a ten-year-old was driving past the local university with my father and declaring, “One day I’m going to cure disease.” A lofty goal indeed, particularly for a ten-year-old; and yet, I was really tapping into a certainty that I was here for a reason.
It made perfect sense then, that I would become a health professional so I could indeed help ‘cure disease’. Except I misjudged Spirit’s sense of humor when at the age of 35 I found myself inexplicably communicating with Spirit. No warning… just bam, one afternoon at a workshop, having a conversation with my Spirit guides. With that swift maneuver from ‘upstairs’, my rational, scientific and easily proven profession as a clinical pharmacist went out the window, and my grooming as a medium, energy healer and channel began. Now I mentor professional women whose current work drains the life out of them.
Women who are drawn to ‘alternative’ careers and want to carve out a new direction for themselves that feels more aligned with who they know themselves to be. I love what I do! It gives me the most profound joy and I wouldn’t have chosen it any other way.

A: Healthy skepticism can be very useful if you remain open-minded enough to apply any information that resonates, and then review your results. If one isn’t prepared to remain open-minded, then skepticism is really just resistance to potential change and growth. To any Tarot skeptics, I say: "Give it a go, what have you got to lose?" You might even be pleasantly surprised.
